This game was made around 2007, and the pet care in it definitely shows its age. Hamsters are kept in
cages thay are way too small, with shallow bedding that they can't burrow into, and stress behaviours like climbing bars are treated as personality
quirks. This game is not a guide to keeping real, living hamsters.
That said, this game was clearly made by a team that loves hamsters.
The models are fantastic considering the hardware limitations, and they included care features like sand baths and claw trimming that only recently
became standard practice. This game really is a gem in my opinion, and it's a shame it never took off. There are two guides total that I have found,
both written confusingly or having incorrect information. There are few videos or screenshots of this game. I aim to remedy this.
All
information I've gathered is from 3 copies of the game, two NDS cartridges and one emulated save for screenshot purposes, so I will not claim my
information is 100% correct, it's anecdotal and based on my experience. I just want to bring light to a charming game made with passion. Once again,
this game is not a guide to real hamsters. Real hamsters need a minimum of 600² inches of continuous floor space, 6 inches of bedding to burrow
through, do not climb, should not be given elevated platforms, and should absolutely not have "playdates" as they will fight to the death.
If you plan on getting a real animal, please research it, do not rely on video games for animal information.
This guide is made by one
person, please be kind and remember the human behind the screen. If I have any incorrect information, please do correct me! There is very little
information about this game available, and I aim to fix that. If you have anything to add, anything at all, please comment it. After over 10 years
of playing this game, I only recently realized rooms are gender locked, so any info helps. I am actively updating this guide, mostly through
experimenting and tracking how many interactions it takes for certain interactions or updates to trigger. While I will try, I'm almost certain
I won't be able to catalogue all colours and patterns on my own, as certain breedable patterns are time sensitive (such as the dwarf santa only
being available if you breed it around christmas), and would greatly appreciate any help offered!
The game starts out with you creating your character and choosing your room. Afterwards, your cousin
comes to visit. They tell you that their hamster had a baby, and that they'd be more comfortable if you took it than if they gave it to a stranger.
Your cousin gives you 3 rcvd cages, a water bottle, a food dish, a sand bath, a wooden hide, a wooden stump, paper bedding, mixed feed, and water.
The hamster they give you is a golden. They then take you to the pet store, unlocking the shopping feature, and tell you to come play with their
hamster sometime. This unlocks their house, and although their hamster is the opposite gender to yours, your cousin's gender is the same.

The shop unlocks more features and items the more you chat to the shopkeeper, but there's also a store attendant, and a shop visitor to talk to. There is a book here, to learn about game mechanics, and a care center which can look after up to 9 hamsters at a time. The store takes a currency called ☆, which can be earned by petting your hamster, using a cleaner on items in the cage, or by hamsters interacting with cage items (such as eating from the food bowl, climbing on the wooden stump, or using the wheel). The visitor also has some dialogue which mentions another shop that we can't visit, that seems to be out-competing the store we frequent. Considering the owner and assistant both have dialogue about regularly losing hamsters, losing files, and mismanaging registers and reciepts, this does not come as a surprise, though they never lose a player's hamster in their care. The owner will update his stock after telling the assistant that they're in charge, the next time you visit the shop, the new stock will be there.
The owner is always male, attendant the opposite of your gender, and visitor the same as your gender.

Hamsters have hidden moods that can be seen with the checker treasure. Hamsters have 4 moods - friendly, neutral, agitated, and ill. They will act in accordance to their moods, an agitated hamster won't tolerate you petting it, for example. Hamster moods can be improved with treasures, like biscuits or loofas. They will also naturally improve with time as long as they have food and water, and the player doesn't interact with them, as this "recharges" the hamster if it's overwhelmed. Golden and dwarf hamsters will improve their mood quicker than cambells or roborovskis. Too many outings in one day will tank both your hamsters mood, and the hamster you're visiting. Your hamster will have preferred items and treasures, which will increase their mood. A hamster may like wooden items and biscuits, for example.
